Buy The Flowers

An ode to buying the flowers.

Buy the flowers. Not because someone remembered. Not because it’s an anniversary or a milestone or a day circled on the calendar in pink ink. Buy them because today happened. Because you’re here. Because life, in all its ordinary magic, is worth marking.

There’s a saying people love to repeat: I don’t buy flowers because they die.
And I’ve always thought… that’s exactly the point.

Flowers are not meant to last forever. They bloom, they soften, they wilt. They remind us that beauty isn’t permanent, but it is present. They teach us to pay attention. To notice color and texture and scent while it’s here. To enjoy something fully without needing to preserve it.

Buying the flowers is a quiet rebellion against deferring joy. Against the idea that celebration must be earned or postponed or saved for “someday.” It’s a decision to say: this moment is enough. This week deserves beauty. I deserve beauty.

Flowers on a random Tuesday. Flowers after a hard day. Flowers for no one but yourself. They sit on the table and gently insist that time is fleeting, yes—but also generous. That joy doesn’t need permission. That pleasure doesn’t need a reason.

Life moves quickly. Seasons change. Moments pass whether we honor them or not. So buy the flowers. Let them brighten your space and your spirit, even briefly. Especially briefly.

Because the point isn’t how long they last.
The point is that, for a moment, they were alive.

And so were you…fully, intentionally, beautifully present.

XO, Hannah
